BC Women in Trades Centre Opens
July 16, 2018
The newly created BC Centre for Women in the Trades is a two-year pilot project created with the help of the BC Federation of Labour in partnership with the BC Building Trades, BC Tradeswomen Society, Construction Labour Relations Association of BC, and BC LNG. The project is funded by the provincial and federal governments.
Located at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 213 facility in Port Coquitlam, BC, the project will work to eliminate systemic barriers to the retention and advancement of tradeswomen through three key pillars:
• outreach and mentorship
• shifting the culture in the industry
• building the organizational capacity of employers, unions and others to support tradeswomen
