Case Study: DarkSky-Friendly Storage Facility Lighting in Kitchener

March 9, 2026

By CSC LED

A well-lit exterior is critical for storage facilities—supporting visibility, security, and peace of mind after dark. Recently spotted on site in Kitchener, Ontario, this storage facility showcases a thoughtful lighting approach that balances performance, efficiency, and neighbourhood consideration.

Installed by The Electricians Inc., the project combines durable perimeter lighting with low-profile canopy fixtures to create a clean, cohesive nighttime environment.

Perimeter Lighting That Works After Dark

Along the building exterior, black KWP Keystone Wall Packs were selected to provide consistent, powerful illumination around the facility perimeter. Their sleek profile blends seamlessly with the building façade while delivering reliable coverage where visibility matters most.

Configured with motion sensors, the wall packs increase light levels only when needed—helping improve security while minimizing unnecessary light output. The Keystone series is also DarkSky approved, supporting responsible outdoor lighting by reducing glare and light spill into surrounding areas.

Clean, Functional Lighting Under Canopies

At covered areas and drive-up zones, GCL01 Canopy Lights were used to provide uniform illumination without visual clutter. Their low-profile design keeps the focus on function, delivering bright, even light where vehicles and pedestrians interact.

Paired with the exterior perimeter lighting, the canopy fixtures help create a seamless transition between open and covered spaces, improving usability and safety throughout the site.

Designed With the Surroundings in Mind

Beyond performance, this installation reflects a growing emphasis on community-friendly lighting. With motion sensing and DarkSky-conscious fixture selection, the site remains well-lit when active—while reducing impact on neighbouring properties after dark.

The result is a storage facility that’s secure, efficient, and thoughtfully designed for its environment.
