Power management company Eaton today announced the launch of Current Thinking, a new broadcast series featuring industry and Eaton experts sharing insights on digitalization, cybersecurity, grid modernization and other important topical issues and opportunities around intelligent power and innovation. Current Thinking kicked off on May 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. EST, with a roundtable discussion titled “When Disaster Strikes: Electrical Safety Before, During and After a Disaster,” moderated by Brett Brenner, president, Electrical Safety Foundation International.

Each year in May, the Electrical Safety Foundation International recognizes National Electrical Safety Month to educate audiences about steps they can take to reduce the incidents of electrical-related fires, fatalities, injuries and property loss. The theme for the 2019 campaign is “Electrical Safety During Natural Disasters,” focusing on the importance of preparing, weathering and rebuilding after natural disasters. Eaton’s Current Thinking broadcast features experts from both Eaton and the electrical industry discussing challenges and best practices for facility managers and electrical professionals in prioritizing safety before, during and after a disaster.

“Electrical safety is a critical and frequently overlooked concern in disaster planning and, whether it’s fires, earthquakes or weather-related disasters, unplanned events can leave businesses exposed to a range of safety issues,” said Thomas A. Domitrovich, P.E., LEED AP,  vice president, technical sales, Eaton. “From understanding and adhering to codes and standards to avoiding counterfeit electrical products during rebuilding efforts, it’s essential for professionals, including electrical contractors, facility managers and IT managers, to help make disaster safety and preparedness a priority – and a reality.”
