Mechanical Engineering Technology students at Mohawk College successfully completed the SOLIDWORKS Pro Certification (CSWP), working with the SOLIDWORKS design and engineering software platform. These students are now Certified SolidWorks Professionals and can add this to their resume.

In earning the certification, the successful students demonstrated their advanced skills in mechanical design. They had to pass three, one-hour external exams to prove their competency in 21 design areas, maintaining a final grade over 75 per cent.

This was the first time Mohawk College students participated in the SOLIDWORKS certification tests as part of their course curriculum. Of the 130 eligible Semester 5 Mechanical Engineering Technology students, 71 were successful. Professor Sevastian Irimie encouraged the students to take on the certification challenge and for facilitating the exams.

A Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional is an individual who has successfully passed the advanced skills examination. It is a respected credential that graduates cand highlight on their resumes, proving they are job-ready. Each CSWP has proven their ability to design and analyze parametric parts and moveable assemblies using a variety of complex features in SOLIDWORKS software. This external certification is a confirmation of the current relevance of the engineering design skills Mohawk students develop during their studies.
