Schneider Electric Appoint new VPs of Digital Energy and Industry

Hugo Lafontaine has been appointed Vice President, Digital Energy, effective March 30, 2020. He will report to Susan Uthayakumar, Country President and will be a member of the Canadian Leadership team. Hugo will be based in Ottawa, Ontario.

In his role as Vice President, Digital Energy, Hugo will lead the Digital Energy portfolio which includes our digital power and digital building groups. He will also be responsible for driving the success of our our existing Digital Energy offers.

Sanjith Singh has been appointed Vice President, Industry, effective March 1, 2020. He will report to Uthayakumar and becomes a member of the Canadian Leadership team. Sanjith will be based in our Maclaughlin Office in Mississauga, Ontario.

In his role as Vice President, Industry, Sanjith will be responsible for overseeing all strategic initiatives for the Industry Business and driving revenue and growth targets while positioning the business for long term profitable growth.

Singh is a qualified Electrical Engineer with a Masters in Business Administration from Milpark Business School. Sanjith has years of experience designing electrical control systems and automated solutions as well as hands on experience in programing PLC’s, VFD’s, and SCADA systems. He has held various sales positions with Emerson Industrial Automation. Prior to moving from South Africa to Canada in 2015 as Regional Director, Sanjith was in charge of Sales for Central and Southern Africa. With the acquisition by Nidec, Sanjith took the role as Director of Sales and Marketing within a Division of Nidec’s Motion Control Group, leading all commercial aspects of the business for sales globally.

Lafontaine brings nearly 20 years of experience in the building automation and HVAC industry. Hugo has been a Professional Engineer since 2006, with a Bachelors degree in Engineering and an M.B.A. from the Telfer School of Business. He has held various roles with Regulvar, one of the largest Canadian Building system integrators, growing from Branch Manager to District Manager and Sales Director. He previously worked at Schneider Electric Canada between 2017-2019, as National Sales Manager for Building Automation Systems, during which time he successfully launched the Ecoxpert program for the Buildings segment in Canada. His latest role was as General Manager for Canada and North-East U.S. at Daikin Applied.
