WiRE Women of Distinction Awards recognize and celebrate professional women working in the energy sector who go above and beyond business-as-usual, consistently demonstrate outstanding leadership, and have contributed significantly to the expansion and improvement of the power sector. The nomination window for this award closes September 14, 2018.

WiRE Women of Distinction Awards recognize and celebrate professional women working in the energy sector who go above and beyond business as usual. This award is presented in partnership with the Association of Power Producers of Ontario (APPrO). The WiRE Woman of the Year Award ceremony will take place during the APPrO 30th Annual Canadian Power Conference & Networking Centre, November 12 & 13, in Toronto, Ontario.

WiRE’s mission is to advance the role and recognition of women working in the energy sector, including all renewable energy and clean technologie. Programming includes field trips, networking meet-ups, an awards recognition program, student bursaries, speed mentoring and more.

Launched in 2013, WiRE forges partnerships with a spectrum of renewable energy industry associations, other related networking groups for professional women from across the energy sector, and academic providers.

WIRE started in Toronto, and has since launched chapters in Montreal, Ottawa, Southern and Northern Alberta, British Columbia, Hamilton / Mississauga, Southwestern Ontario, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland.
