Electrical Industry Members Among Canada’s Safest Employers

Canadian Occupational Safety magazine has announced the winners of the eighth annual Canada’s Safest Employers awards, recognizing health and safety excellence from coast to coast. Thirty-one companies were recognized at a gala event. Among them were four members of Canada’s electrical industry. 

Canada’s Safest Employers awards boast 10 industry-specific categories, ranging from hospitality and health care to mining and manufacturing. Companies are judged on a wide range of occupational health and safety elements including leadership commitment, employee training, occupational health and safety management systems, incident investigation, emergency preparedness, and innovative health and safety initiatives.

In the Utilities and Electrical category, four Ontario employers earned awards:

  • Gold: Toronto Hydro 
  • Silvers: Burlington Hydro, Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro, and Peterborough Utilities Group

Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro also won a silver award in the Wellness category.
