WHY

Innovating electrical safety with cloud-based deployment of an Electrical Safety Program puts the employer in an improved position of control of arc flash & shock hazards. Industry has been in a reactive mode related to arc flash and neglecting the shock hazard. Whether your company is small, medium or large in size, the same challenges are presented with respect to utilizing the policies, practices and procedural requirements of CSA Z462 Workplace electrical safety Standard or the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace in the field to achieve acceptable due diligence.

Industry has been overwhelmed by the administrative burdens that CSA Z462 an NFPA 70E prescriptively impose. Workers are frustrated, may be overly delayed in “getting the job done,” and need access to the Electrical Safety Program documentation in real time for reference at the location a job will be completed. Supporting information is required following the receipt of arc flash & shock training to drive to electrical safety competency. An Energized Electrical Work Permit (EEWP) is required to be documented and signed before any Jobs with energized work tasks are completed (CSA Z462 Clause 4.3.2 or NFPA 70E Article 130.2), unless exempted. As identified in CSA Z462, Clause 4.1.7.9.2 or NFPA 70E Article 110.5 I)1) a Job Safety Plan shall be documented by the Qualified Person before they undertake energized electrical work tasks.
