EngWorks Inc and the Electrical Contractors Association of BC (ECABC) forged an alliance this past week to impart critical knowledge on hazardous locations.

In 2021, EngWorks launched the Hazardous Locations Fundamentals course. Since its release, EngWorks has been partnering with organizations across Canada to offer the course to a wider demographic.

“The Electrical Contractors Association of BC hosts a training program held in high esteem,” says Susanne Cardwell, Marketing Manager at EngWorks. “EngWorks continues to take pride in aligning itself with strategic partners such as that found in ECABC.”

The ECABC has been serving electrical and line utility contractors and suppliers since 1952. “As the voice of British Columbia’s electrical and line utility industry, ECABC is always looking to provide our members with access to new and relevant courses that will help them in their businesses and careers,” says Michaela Konken, Education Coordinator at ECABC. “We are looking forward to this new partnership with EngWorks and the possibilities it brings our members and the industry as a whole.”

The Hazardous Locations Fundamentals course is based on the 2021 Canadian Electrical Code and covers both Zone and Division classified facilities. It is intended to promote competence in the design, installation, inspection, and verification of electrical equipment in hazardous locations.

The course also provides seven professional development hours (7 PDH’s) or 0.7 CEU’s.

“The course is of particular interest to electrical inspectors and workers, including electrical engineers in HazLoc,” says EngWorks’ Principal Allan Bozek. “The skills taught in this course are critical for anyone wanting to ensure safety in hazardous locations.”

The course fee is $500 (including GST) which provides one year of access to the course material. The Electrical Contractors Association of BC offers an exclusive 10% discount for its membership.

“The online course provides you with the ability to learn at your own pace. The course incorporates interactive features such as quizzes and a question and answer blog. The course material is continually amended with new Code updates so you will always be current with the latest changes,” says Allan Bozek.
