Canadian Electrical Trade Study Guide

This self-study Guide is designed to help construction electricians and apprentices prepare to take the Red Seal Exam, allowing them to perform their trade in Canada. The Guide covers the requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, and other CSA Group safety-related standards relevant to construction electrician trade activities as outlined in the Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS).

The Canadian Electrical Trade Study Guide provides a range of key learning and study tools to enhance the learning experience of its users. It is conveniently arranged in blocks and chapters representing major work activities (MWA), tasks, and sub-tasks described in the RSOS. Developed by electrical professionals from across Canada, the Guide provides:

  • explanations of key concepts covered in the RSOS and the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I
  • diagrams illustrating CE Code concepts
  • step-by-step examples of calculations included in the CE Code
  • practice questions with answers to check and reinforce electrical and safety knowledge
  • extensive references to additional resources for those in the electrical trades

The Guide is also a correlated companion to CSA Group’s Canadian Electrical Practice Exam, an interactive tool with over 2,400 questions that can further help construction electricians and apprentices study and get ready to take the Red Seal Exam.
