Hubbell Canada Announces Structural Changes

Hubbell Canada Announces Structural Changes

January 27, 2017

Hubbell Canada LP has welcomed the Burndy Canada organization under its umbrella of premium brands, effective January 1, 2017.

Burndy Canada employees relocated from their facility in Markham to the Hubbell Canada facility in Pickering in October 2015. This latest move brings the two organizations closer to building a single operating business later this year.

Steve Fraser, Director Marketing and Sales for the Hubbell Commercial and Industrial (HCI) Group, will transfer Marketing and Sales responsibility for the Harsh and Hazardous business to the recently announced Hubbell Construction and Energy (HCE) Group, effective January 1, 2017.

Eric Shaban, currently Burndy Canada Vice President Marketing and Sales, will take on expanded responsibility for the Harsh and Hazardous Location products in Canada and become Vice President, Marketing and Sales for the Hubbell Construction and Energy portfolio of brands. Eric’s new product portfolio includes the legacy Burndy brand of premium electrical, grounding and bonding products, and additional responsibility for Harsh and Hazardous products, including Killark, Chalmit and Hawke.

The current Burndy sales organization under Eric’s direction will now have responsibility for promoting Harsh and Hazardous products. Agents Brodwell and EX Supply Inc. will report through the Hubbell Construction and Energy portfolio of brands under Eric’s leadership, as well. Eric will report to Kevin Mallory, Vice President and General Manager, Hubbell Canada.

Chris Mealin (Strategic Accounts Manager Harsh and Hazardous Markets), Marty Cole (Harsh and Hazardous Codes, Standards and Specifications Manager), and Craig Moffatt (Harsh and Hazardous Brand Manager) will move under Eric’s direction.

Chris Mealin has spent 11 years at Hubbell (HCE) and currently has responsibility for Alberta’s Oil and Gas Market. Prior to this, Chris held the position of Western Region Manager for Burndy Canada. His 17 years of sales experience has driven outstanding growth in all Hubbell HCE verticals and targets on a consistent basis and he is well positioned to drive the Harsh and Hazardous initiatives forward.

Marty Cole has been with Hubbell Canada for more than 35 years and has been involved with Harsh and Hazardous Electrical Products for most of that time. He is a member of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) Part I – Section 18 Sub-Committee, Chair of CSA’s Integrated Committee on Hazardous Locations (ICHL), which deals with all hazardous location standards, a member of CSA’s TC-419 Technical Committee on the Performance of Lighting Products, and a member of the NFPA820 Standard on Wastewater Treatment Facilities. Marty is also Chair of the Hazardous Location Products sub-section of Electro Federation Canada’s (EFC/EEMAC) Wiring Products Section, and a member of the Board of Directors of the CEC Part 4 – Objective Based Industrial Electrical Code (OBIEC) Stakeholder Advisory Committee. Craig Moffatt has been with Hubbell Canada LP since 2008. Throughout the past five years he has been Brand Manager for Harsh and Hazardous Products and Hubbell Industrial Brands, and has been a strong contributor to our success in these segments.

Craig Moffatt has a strong understanding of the Harsh and Hazardous products and applications and will use his technical knowledge to support the HCE sales team through onsite calls, sales tool development and training to help support our growth.

Steve Fraser will continue in his responsibilities for his current commercial and industrial portfolio of brands. Rick Blasl, Director Marketing and Sales for Hubbell Lighting, will continue to oversee the development of the portfolio of lighting brands.

Both Steve and Rick will continue reporting to Kevin Mallory. Beyond these changes, the sales and marketing organizations for each of the three product portfolios mentioned above will remain intact to ensure the continued strength of brands and preserve the integrity of distributor partnerships.

Kevin Mallory notes, “We believe that continued strategic positioning and investment in the Canadian market will allow us to consistently achieve better than market performance, and most importantly, service our customers with a high level of product expertise and an ease of doing business across our diverse product offerings.”
