Stelpro Joins Forces with Three IoT Leaders to Develop Maestro – Smart Thermostats

February 7, 2017

Stelpro has teamed up with three Internet of Things (IoT) partners to develop and bring to market Maestro – Smart Thermostats, a game changing Smart Home solution for electric heat that enables users to easily customize their home comfort experience while reducing heating expenses.

The company announced the partnership agreement with Ayla Networks, Mirego and mnubo at the international AHR Expo in Las Vegas, NV.

“Joining forces with these three IoT partners enables us to successfully develop and deploy a robust connectivity infrastructure for our new Maestro – Smart Thermostats while delivering a superior customer experience,” says Etienne Guay, Stelpro’s Vice President, Innovation and Product Development. “With the North American product launch scheduled for this fall, we are now extremely well positioned to break into the smart home market with this integrated solution for the many households that use electric heating devices such as baseboards, convectors and unit heaters.”

Coming together to bring this new product to the Smart Home market are

  • California-based Ayla Networks, which supports the IoT cloud service connectivity
  • Montreal-based Mirego, which developed the mobile application and user interface
  • mnubo, also from Montreal, which will look after the data analytic and strategic insight components

“Synergies created between our internal development team and our partners provided us with the momentum to reach the required level of expertise in building a state-of-the-art, scalable and secure IoT platform and mobile applications, while reducing time to market,” says Mr. Guay. “Maestro – Smart Thermostats represents the logical continuation of the many heating components developed by Stelpro in recent years, and we are proud to bring them together in a personalized heating ecosystem.”

Maestro – Smart Thermostats act as a “conductor,” allowing Stelpro’s heating devices to work in harmony and deliver a complete 360° comfort solution. For example, households will be able to easily configure customized activities and group heating devices together to seamlessly adapt room temperatures to their lifestyle and schedules. The geo-fencing capability will detect if someone is home and adjust the temperature accordingly, making you comfortable when you’re at home and saving energy when you’re away.

Maestro – Smart Thermostats will also promote energy savings, thanks to the visual feedback provided by the user interface on the impact of heating choices as well as clear reporting on energy consumption history.

Easy to install and set up, Maestro – Smart Thermostats can replace any existing line-voltage thermostat installation, and its communication protocol is compatible with other smart home solutions.

Stelpro’s new product development team partners said they were delighted to be involved in a project that promises to stand out in the electric heating industry. “In developing its Maestro – Smart Thermostats, Stelpro took a smart approach to creating IoT-connected products: they focused on their core expertise while working with partners to provide IoT cloud connectivity, mobile app development and data analytics capabilities,” says David Friedman, CEO and co-founder of Ayla Networks. “As a result, Stelpro is getting to market fast with an innovative smart home solution that will enable people using electric heating devices in their homes to be more comfortable and use energy more efficiently.”
