Architectural, Engineering and Related Services Price Index Declines 0.3% in Q4 2016

The AESPI declined by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2016, following a 0.5% decline in the third quarter. This marked the sixth consecutive quarterly decrease.

Engineering services, the largest component of the AESPI, reported a 0.2% price decrease from the third to the fourth quarter of 2016.

Prices for architectural and landscape architectural services increased by 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2016. Prices for the surveying and mapping component decreased by 0.2%.

Year-over-year change 

Year over year, the AESPI decreased 4.1% as a result of lower prices for engineering services (-4.8%) and for surveying and mapping services (-3.5%), which more than offset higher prices for architectural and landscape architectural services (+1.5%).
