The Safety Codes Council Welcomes Master Electrician Number 10,000

Safety Council

The Safety Codes Council has announced that the they have reached 10,000 recognized Master Electricians. The 10,000th Master Electrician is Pauline Banack from Beaver County.

In Alberta, a Master Electrician is an individual with recognized education and experience who has been designated a Master Electrician by the Safety Codes Council. Master Electricians are part of the safety codes system that is responsible for ensuring the safety of Alberta’s buildings and other structures. Becoming a Master Electrician is one way to demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge and skill in the field. Following at least 3 years of work as a journeyman electrician, the applicant must write and pass a 7-hour exam to obtain certification. Over 10,000 Master Electricians have been certified in the province of Alberta since 2011.

Ms. Banack has worked as an electrician for more than 8 years,
and as a journeyman electrician for 4 years. Her work has been mainly on new construction, as well as maintenance and upgrades primarily on commercial and oilfield projects. She took the NAIT Master Electrician Preparation Course and passed her Master Electrician exam in August. With her Master Electrician certification she foresees the possibility of working in an office role with electrical contracting, or teaching within the electrical trade.

“Getting my [Master Electrician certification] gives me more options. I would like to teach electrical theory at NAIT, work as a contractor, or take a more administrative role.” -Pauline Banack, 10,000th Master Electrician

The certification team at the Safety Codes Council sends its sincere congratulations to Ms. Banack and best wishes for her as a Master Electrician.

“We have over 4,800 active Master Electricians in the province and we recognize the effort that goes into gaining this title. We’re happy to celebrate this milestone with Ms. Banack.” -Danielle Paradis, Administrator of Certification
