IBEW Canada Announces 2017/2018 Scholarship Winners

From 159 applications, a random draw was made at the First District Office for five $1,000 post-secondary scholarships. Applicants must be Canadian IBEW members or family members who are currently enrolled in full or part-time studies, or who are currently in pursuit of a post- secondary diploma or degree.

The following are recipients of the 2017/2018 $1,000 scholarships:

• Alexandre Cochrane — Local Union 2228, Ottawa, ON
• Erykah Verrier — Local Union 424, Edmonton, AB
• Kira Schmidt — Local Union 993, Kamloops, BC
• Lacey Anderson — Local Union 2067, Regina, SK
• Sharon MacLean — Local Union 37, Fredericton, NB

The scholarships were sponsored by the First District Office, TD Insurance Meloche Monnex, MWG Apparel and AIL.

IBEW Canada represents 65,000 members across Canada in all kinds of industries, including utilities, manufacturing, construction, telecommunications, cable, radio and television, shipyards, railroads, sound and alarm, appliance repair, motor shops, sign shops, pulp and paper mills, mining, and government.
