Utility Employees Respond to Habitat for Humanity Emergency
Dec 10, 2018
Over the course of three separate thefts, Habitat for Humanity’s Windsor, Ontario ReStore lost its building tools, materials and truck. With upcoming builds scheduled, Habitat had no choice but to launch an emergency plea for help from the community in hopes of being able to retool in order to keep projects on schedule.
When the break-ins became public, employees of Enwin Utilities Ltd. took action. An Enwin Grassroots Fundraising Initiative promoted by employee Aislinn Liolli was moved up, and a fundraising blitz was launched. Enwin Utilities Ltd. is an electricity distribution company serving customers in Windsor, and is responsible for the local distribution of electricity, and the service and maintenance of the local electricity distribution infrastructure.
In just 36 hours, Enwin employees donated $700. The total was matched by Enwin for a donation grand total of $1,400. (Shown in photo: Aislinn Liolli (left) presenting Enwin’s donation to Fiona Coughlin, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex).
“With the overwhelming number of donations we received from across Windsor-Essex, we’ll be able to replace each and every one of the stolen tools,” says Fiona Coughlin. “More than $25,000 has been raised and that ensures we can continue to build homes for families in need.”
Enwin Utilities Ltd. is the licensed electricity distribution company serving customers in the City of Windsor, and is responsible for the local distribution of electricity, and the service and maintenance of the local electricity distribution infrastructure.
