Ontario's New Construction Act

Mar 31, 2019

On October 1, 2019, new prompt payment and adjudication regimes in Ontario will transform the fundamental way that construction projects operate in Ontario. To help you prepare, on April 29 Osgoode Hall Law School will provide a comprehensive professional development program on adapting to the upcoming prompt payment and adjudication regimes under the new Ontario Construction Act.

Designed and delivered by an expert faculty of construction lawyers and industry specialists — many of whom helped to write the new law — this program will provide the critical information and practical strategies that owners, general/major trade contractors, subcontractors, trades and suppliers need to adapt to the new prompt payment and adjudication regimes, and manage risk.

Among the topics:

    • How to prepare for the new Prompt Payment regime

    • How to prepare for the new Adjudication regime

    • Practical insights, tips and lessons learned from early adopters and other jurisdictions from the perspectives of owners, GCs/major trade contractors, and trades, subcontractors and suppliers

    • Federal and provincial legal reforms: what has been learned thus far?

    • What’s next? Legal updates and challenges to watch out for
