July 10 is National Lineworker Appreciation Day
July 3, 2019
To install and maintain Canada’s electrical grid, lineworkers often operate in extreme conditions. During catastrophic events, says the Canadian Electricity Association, lineworkers must deal with one or more occupational hazards, including
- high-voltage contact
- working at heights
- challenging weather conditions
- welding, cutting and burns
Lineworkers also play an instrumental role to make the environment safe for volunteers and first responders by assessing electrical hazards and removing any live wires.
