Top Students to Present Ideas for a More Sustainable Future at Schneider Go Green Global Finals in September

Schneider Electric hosts its global student competition, Schneider Go Green, every year. Students are invited to submit their innovative and bold ideas on energy management and automation for a smarter and more sustainable future from around the globe. The company announced the top eight teams on August 10, 2020. They will present their ideas and compete against each other during the finals on September 10th, 2020.

Schneider is deeply committed to diversity and inclusion which is why the 2900 submitted projects are chosen from Asia Pacific, North America, South America, China, Europe, India, and the Middle East & Africa. Teams are also asked to include at least one female to encourage a balanced representation.

The winners are listed below:

  • Women in Energy: Rainbow Leung and Yvonne So from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong
  • Asia Pacific: Felicia Shelly and Vincent Oktavian Kaulika from Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia
  • North America: Nainika Sudheendra and Omeed Noorbakhsh, from University of Tennessee Knoxville, USA 
  • South America: Jorge Polo and Angie Redondo from Universidade Nacional De Colombia, Colombia 
  • China: Yichen Yao and Yuxiao Lei from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China
  • Europe: Kseniya Sherbakova and Batyr Ovezov from Sergo Ordzhonikidze Russian State University for Geological Prospecting, Russia 
  • India: Shalvi Shukla and Anirudh S Chakravarthy from BITS Pilani, India 
  • Middle East and Africa: Abdallah Mohamed from German University in Cairo – GUC, Egypt and Habiba Abdelwahed from The American University in Cairo, Egypt

“We want to build Schneider’s future with talents that are comfortable being empowered to use their best judgment. We truly believe that top talents continue to learn every day, dare to disrupt and be innovative,” comments Charise Le, Schneider Electric’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “With Schneider Go Green, we’re looking for high performing individuals who share our meaningful purpose and core values and work with us towards a more sustainable future.”  

The finalists, supported by their Schneider Electric mentors, are now gearing up for the global digital finals, the ultimate stage of the competition. The teams will pitch their bold ideas in the form of business cases to an executive jury composed of eight Schneider Electric leaders from around the world. The teams will also participate in a pre-show event hosted digitally by Schneider Electric where they will attend career talks, presentations on innovation and incubation and a candid talk with the Group’s CHRO and other top management leaders.

All teams will be interviewed with the possibility of working at Schneider Electric. The winning team will be invited to an all-inclusive trip to Boston, USA where they will visit the Schneider Innovation Hub. They will also be invited on a personalized tour of MIT and Greentown Labs, the largest climate tech start-up incubator in North America.
