The Cascade Street Generating Station is up and running. Aside from a few minor items to complete including its testing phase, the facility is ready to produce electricity. Fully computerized, the $17.5 million station can be controlled in Parry Sound, or remotely.
Nova Scotia Power is in the final construction phase of a project that will see six new transmission towers carrying high voltage electrical lines across the Strait of Canso, which will improve service reliability by providing an important back-up power connection between Cape Breton and the mainland.
