The lighting market in Canada is dominated by the residential and commerical sectors, which together account for 88% of the overall market. Industrial follows with just 9% of market share.
BC Hydro lighting expert Brian Friedman wants to sweep aside a myth about LED luminaires: they’re not 100% maintenance free. The buildup of dust, dirt and other emissions can affect the light quality of an LED by as much as 30%, and in some cases the accumulated materials can become a fire hazard.
Ontario has the most full-line electrical distributors, who represent 37% of all electrical product sales in Canada purchased from these distributors. Quebec follows with 22% of national sales.
