Building automation and control systems (BACS) monitor and control a range of building systems such as lighting, heating, air conditioning and more. The terms used for BACS are widespread — building management system, building automation system, smart building and more, depending on the scope of the system.
At this particular moment, there are several different generations in our workplaces, all with different worldviews, expectations and needs. We have newly graduated employees working next to those with 30+ years in the business. By 2016, all but the youngest boomers will have reached the average age of retirement for our sector, 58, and will likely have the 30 years of experience needed to qualify for full pension. For many, that cottage is looking good.
This is the third of a series of articles detailing significant changes for the 2015 Canadian Electrical Code Part I (CE Code). Specifically, Sections 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12.The rules in this article are limited to changes adopted by CE Code Technical Committee and not subject to further changes. It should be noted that until a formal memorandum of revisions to the CE Code is published by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), the information provided in this article is simply based on the observations of the writer.
Nationally, new house prices rose 0.2% in June, curbed by a pause in new house price rises in Southern Ontario and down from a 0.8% increase in April and a 0.7% gain in May.
Residential construction investment in Canada totalled $33.2 billion in the second quarter, up 7.7% from the same quarter in 2016. Higher investment in every component except cottages contributed to the total quarterly increase. Investment in renovations totalled $15 billion (up 6.6%) and accounted for almost 40% of the year-over-year change at the national level. Investment in single-family dwellings was up 12.9% to $7.4 billion, while acquisition costs related to new dwellings rose 8.2% to $3.7 billion.
The show was kicked off by President Blake Moret who welcomed attendees and Rockwell’s partners and announced the formation of its new Digital Partnership Program and expansions of existing partnerships and collaborations.
