What Sectors Electrical Technologists and Technicians Work In

Canada generated 61.2 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity in January, up 1.5% from January 2014. The increase was a result of higher generation levels in Quebec, Manitoba, Ontario, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Exports of electricity to the United States rose by 11.8% to 5.4 million MWh, while imports fell 37.2% to 0.8 million MWh, influenced by the strong appreciation of the U.S. dollar against the loonie. While generation increased, the rise in net exports of electricity resulted in a 0.2% decline in available electricity (56.5 million MWh) in Canada.

Many organizations are anxious to make sure these professionals can work onsite at least part of the time due to potential cybersecurity issues, the importance of their roles, and the sensitivity of the information they work with.
“Luminaire-level lighting controls” (LLLCs) — that’s a mouthful of Ls! This relatively new term in the lighting controls industry indicates that every fixture controlled by a networked lighting control system (NLC) incorporates two specific things: 1) a “controller,” and 2) sensors.
François Anquetil? You’ll never get him to sit down for an interview, people told me. He’s too busy. However, this conversation between two francophones feels like an informal chat over a glass of wine. François Anquetil, President of Sonepar Canada and Chair of Electro-Federation Canada’s Board of Directors, is engaging, and happy to share his vision of the industry.
This graph shows the average salary for electrician career path. Electrical foreman is the most lucrative position, by about $12,000, although it is the least travelled path among those surveyed.
