Often, code users encounter situations where they find themselves at odds with the rules contained in the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
Section 26 is a general section of the code and applies to the installation of all electrical equipment. Appendix B contains important additional helpful notes. This section is divided into several parts, with the general rules 26-002 to 26-012 applying to all electrical equipment and additional parts for specific types of equipment.
On March 30th, the EFC (Electro-Federation Canada) in collaboration with Ontario’s ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) presented on the top changes to the Ontario Electrical Code with the upcoming adoption of the 2021 Canadian Electrical Code. The presentation was hosted by EFC Ontario Region Chair John Hadley and presented by Ramy Yousef of ESA.
The introduction of LED and lighting controls forced rapid shifts in how the residential, commercial and industrial sectors addressed their lighting needs. As we look ahead, the horizon for fluorescent lamps is likely going the same way after the Department of the Environment and Department of Health have proposed to phase out fluorescent lamp manufacturing by the end of 2023 and a complete ban on their sale by 2026.
