Ron Bergeron, Bergeron Electric Ltd., Appointed to Ontario’s ECRA Council

June 14, 2016

Bergeron, a board member of the Ontario Electrical League (OEL), is now one of four contractors who represent 7,770 licensed electrical contractors and 12,900 master electricians in Ontario on the Electrical Contractor Registration Agency Council, reports the Cornwall Standard Freeholder.

“This appointment means Ron will be integrally involved with the licensing systems, as it pertains to licensed electrical contractors, in Ontario,” Huong Nguyen, OEL’s Manager-Communications and Marketing, told the newspaper.

The ECRA Advisory Council forms part of the governance structure for provincial licensing. Members include representatives from the electrical contracting industry, municipalities, consumer interest groups, utility contractors and the Electrical Safety Authority. The council also makes recommendations to the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA)’s Regulatory Affairs Committee on matters relating to the licensing of electrical contractors and master electricians, and is responsible for establishing the Master Examining Board and oversees the administration of the Master Electrician Licence Exam.

Bergeron has been active in the industry for decades. He has already spent over 10 years as part of ESA’s Industry Advisory Council, Fee Restructuring Committee and Contractor Advisory Council. Bergeron has also been an OEL member for over 40 years, at both the local and provincial level. He’s the local designated contractor for his chapter, participating in provincial contractor committee meetings.

Bergeron has been a professional engineer since 1969, an electrical contractor since 1971, and he earned his master electricians license in 2006.
