Lysandra Naom has been awarded the RAB Design Lighting Inc., Award of Excellence for the 2017 Electro-Federation Canada Scholarship program.

Lysandra is currently in her third of a four year program as an Electrical Engineering student at the University of Windsor and a Junior Charity Director and member of the University of Windsor Engineering Students Society.  As Junior Charity Director, she assists in the hosting of events with proceeds donated to various charities.  She is also very active in her community, volunteering for Canadian Blood Services and Corpus Christi Parish.

“It is really nice to see more females pushing through the Electrical Engineering field. I am happy that RAB Design is contributing to that,” said Lysandra.

According to ONWiE (Women in Engineering) in 2015, a total of 16,222 female undergraduates were studying engineering in accredited programs across Canada. This represents 68% percent growth in the absolute number of female undergraduate enrollments compared to 2007, and marks an eighth consecutive year of growth in the number of young women enrolled across the country. At the same time, the number of male students has increased and the proportion of engineering undergraduates who are female has remained at 19-20% for the last five years.

“This is incredible news,” said David Beron, President of RAB Design Inc.  “It’s fantastic that women are entering this historically male dominated field and we are happy to be a part of this trend.”
