It is with great sadness that Fortis acknowledges the passing of Michael Mulcahy, President and CEO of FortisBC.

Michael, or Mike as we affectionately call him, has been a long-time leader in the Fortis Group of Companies. Having served the company for a quarter of a century at Maritime Electric, Fortis Properties, Newfoundland Power and FortisBC, Mike’s steadfast approach and business acumen have served us well. An advocate of positive corporate culture and strong talent, many knew Mike to be a trusted friend and advisor. He was close to his employees – something which they regarded highly in his management approach.

Mike was someone who challenged those around him to reach new heights while at the same time holding them up when they needed support. He had tremendous influence on his peers throughout North America, and was a key contributor to the success and growth of Fortis over his long career with the Company.

The Canadian Electricity Association, the Western Energy Institute and the Canadian Gas Association have all benefitted from Mike’s insights into the electrical and gas industries as he assumed leadership positions within these organizations to drive more value for our industries.

Mike often spoke about his love for his family and the times they spent together camping or cooking up meals together. Our deepest sympathies go to his wife Cindy and their boys – Gavin, Brett and Sean. We are here to help you all in any way we can during this difficult time for you are also part of our Fortis family.

Mike was a good friend to us all, and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
