Canadian Electricity Association Supports Smart Cities Challenge

CEA

Sergio Marchi, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA), has issued the following statement in regard to the Government of Canada’s announcement regarding the launch of the Smart Cities Challenge.

“CEA is supportive of the Government of Canada’s Smart Cities Challenge. This is a valuable initial step towards building the cities of tomorrow. From advanced metering infrastructure to smart grid technologies, the electricity sector is already playing a key role in developing the cities of tomorrow.

This initiative by Minister Sohi will make our communities stronger and smarter through innovation, using data and connected technology. It encourages and enables opportunities that directly support a healthy, vibrant Canadian economy and an enhanced quality of life. At over 80% GHG emissions free and growing, and ushering in leading edge innovation, the electricity sector will be pivotal in powering our cities of the future.”
