Updated Standard for Electrical Intermediate Metal Conduit Raceways Now Available
Aug 2, 2019
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published ANSI C80.6-2018 American National Standard for Intermediate Metal Conduit (EIMC), featuring the requirements for steel electrical intermediate metal conduit (EIMC) for use as a raceway for wires or cables of an electrical system. Revisions apply to protective coating for corrosion resistance, exterior coating, and dimensions.
“The Standard now harmonizes more closely with UL 1242, and includes other minor changes to make tables and naming configurations consistent throughout,” said Raymond Horner, Director Codes and Standards at Atkore International and chair of the Steel Conduit and Electrical Metallic Tubing Section.
C80.6 also establishes uniform dimensions and construction requirements for electrical steel metal conduit, electrical metallic tubing, electrical intermediate metal conduit, and electrical rigid aluminum conduit raceway products and their associated components.
ANSI C80.6-2018 is available in hard copy and as an electronic download for $80 on the NEMA website.
