How Powertec Electric has Adjusted their Operations with COVID-19

With the current challenges presented by the pandemic, Winnepeg electrical contractor, Powertec Electric provides an update on their operations:

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected the way all of us live and work. The situation is evolving rapidly. Here at Powertec, we put the health and safety of our staff, customers, and community first.

While many businesses are reducing their hours or closing, electrical companies in Winnipeg offer an essential service. Losing power in your home or business means a loss of safety – this goes double for electrical hazards. In light of this, we are going to remain open for the foreseeable future. Appointments that you have scheduled will be kept, and we will continue to welcome new customers.

As circumstances change, our policies may change as well. Should we need to move your scheduled appointment due to staff illness or other unforeseen circumstances, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and work with you to schedule a new appointment. Should you need us to reschedule due to illness, don’t hesitate to let us know – we’re more than happy to reschedule for you.

While our work goes on, it’s not business as usual. We’ve made a number of changes to keep our commitment to safety at the forefront:

We’ve advised all of our staff to stay home if they are sick. We’ve emphasized that this includes any cold or flu-like symptoms: so much as a cough, and we’re advising staff to stay home. We’ve also advised that team members who are feeling sick should use the self-assessment tool, get checked for COVID-19 only if the tool advises them to, and alert us if they test positive for the virus. We’ve also advised staff who have travelled recently to closely self-monitor.

We are washing our hands and using hand sanitizer frequently. We’ve advised employees to clean their cell phones regularly, avoid contact with their faces, and avoid touching frequently used surfaces. Furthermore, we’ve emphasized the proper use of safety gloves to avoid contamination.

On site, social distancing is key. We’ll avoid all unnecessary physical contact – no hand shaking. Our teams will work alone or in pairs and maintain the recommended distance of two metres. Our site trailers will never be occupied by more than two people at any given time, and lunch breaks will be staggered to avoid staff members congregating. All site meetings will be held outdoors.

We are continuing to follow updates from the WRHA, Manitoba Health, and Health Canada. If and when our business practices change as a result, we’ll let you know. We are committed to keeping everyone healthy.
