Gescan is delighted to announce that express counters will now be available at branches in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver.

The expansion of express counters is the latest in a series of initiatives made by Gescan to safely improve the shopping experience for electrical contractors who have been deemed an essential service by the Canadian Government.

“We recognize the added challenges COVID-19 has placed on our customers. Electrical contractors provide important healthcare services and it’s always been our priority to help them shop with us safely and in the most efficient way possible,” says Jeff Derkuch, President of Gescan.

Offering efficient service is important for electrical contractors today as they face increased pressure to offer more for their customers with fewer resources, especially in the current climate where capital project costs are being cut as a result of COVID-19.

“We want to help electricians get back to the job site faster,” says Derkuch. “Express counters were introduced to help customers skip the line which saves them time and money.”

Electrical contractors can now order their items from the job site through their phone using Gescan’s mobile app or through Gescan’s website, selecting the express pick up option.  Electricians can also call in their order and request to pick up their items at the express counter.

This new service offering is a result of shopping behavior changes in the electrical industry with many contractor’s ordering repeat products from the jobsite and sending runners to pick up their products in store. According to Derkuch:

“Shopping behavior is definitely changing in the electrical industry. It used to be that we welcomed many of the same contractors every day and now we’re noticing a lot of new faces as we’ve continued to support our contractors during COVID-19 through our Safety First & Service Always corporate policy.  It is our mission to address the immediate needs of our electrical contractors so that we can help them to provide these important and critical services.”
