CSA Group inaugurated its new European headquarters in Plattling, Bavaria. The new facility, which began servicing customers in late summer 2021, will provide comprehensive testing, inspection, and certification services for customers in the region.

“We are excited to officially open our new headquarters,” says Peter Mertel, Regional Vice President, CSA Group. “Strategically positioned in the heart of Europe, we built our new, state-of-the art campus with the unique needs and challenges of our customers in mind. We look forward to continuing to support our European customers, by offering convenient and accessible service, direct access to world-class technical experts and an unparalleled understanding of the unique challenges facing manufacturers as they navigate local and international standards and regulations.”

With planned EU notified body status, DAKKS, SCC and ANAB accreditation, OSHA NRTL, IECEx, and IECEE CB Scheme recognition, the new facility will offer the following services:

  • For manufacturers of industrial equipment in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food, mining and energy, CSA Group will offer a cutting-edge hazardous location (hazloc) laboratory and industry-leading expertise for equipment testing and certification.
  • For manufacturers of home and commercial products seeking testing and certification for gas, electric and battery-operated appliances and power tools, CSA Group will offer a state-of-the-art laboratory and expertise to help manufacturers gain access to global markets.
  • The new facility will offer greater Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), radio and environmental testing capacity for many products such as medical devices, industrial equipment, consumer products, automotive and radio equipment.

By establishing a new headquarters in the heart of Europe, CSA Group seeks to further enhance the customer experience, while addressing a growing demand by German and European manufacturers hoping to market their products worldwide. The new facility will complement CSA Group’s four existing locations in Germany, strengthening testing and certification capabilities and process.

“We are very pleased that a global organization like the CSA Group has chosen Plattling as the location for its European headquarters,” commented Mayor Hans Schmalhofer. “One of the decisive factors was certainly our city’s close proximity to key highways and rail. The decision of the CSA Group to invest in Plattling once again confirms the qualities of our city as a leading research and technology location that attracts highly qualified talent and is a good place to live.”

Over 180 highly qualified employees – mainly engineers and technicians –will be employed at the new facility. A further 70 jobs are expected to be created within the next several years. CSA Group has over 100 years of experience working with companies worldwide and has over 30 laboratories and office locations in Europe, Asia and North America. CSA Group’s CSA certification mark appears on more than a billion products worldwide.

As part of the official inauguration of the new European Headquarters, CSA Group announced a donation of 10,000 € to support the City of Plattling’s Marketing Association, a group dedicated to promoting the city’s many local businesses and its position as an attractive option for new businesses, tourism and residents. As a new employer and business in the region, the donation is representative of CSA Group’s long-term commitment to supporting the growth and prosperity of the region.
