New Electrical Innovation Enables ‘Listening’ to the Health of Your System

The Swedish company EliGuard has developed a new software centric innovative technology which makes it possible to ‘listen’ to the health of an electrical installation. The technology comes with unique features to detect sparks before they become arcs making it stand out from other solutions such as photo sensors: its capability to respond proactively before accidents occur and to monitor at great distance and without line of sight. Despite this, the EliGuard solution is built on cost competitive technology relative to alternative solutions.

About the Electrical System Innovation

The EliGuard technology is based on structural borne acoustic emission analysis. The EliGuard sensor listens to the standard DIN-track in a switch cabinet. From this position, one sensor unit can monitor all connections in the cabinet as well as deep into the cables routed to and from it. The easy installation is done within minutes. Once installed, the software component of the technology can log, analyze and if required take action on all electrically induced structural borne resonance stemming from incipient sparks in your copper wires and connections.

Structural borne resonance, that is sound carried through a matter other than air, has the advantage of not requiring unobstructed line of sight to an arc and can hence operate despite being located multiple walls away from the incipient spark. EliGuard responds to the earliest sparks, the technology is proactive and can take action prior to the formation of an arc visible to a photo sensor.

The EliGuard technology is the next generation of electrical safety technology. Not only is it superior with regards to being proactive rather than reactive but structural borne acoustic technology is also substantially more cost efficient than some of the other safety technologies on the market. This is a game changer in electrical safety technology

Robert Magnusson, Chairman of EliGuard

EliGuard is now looking for international business partners to team up with to commercialize the technology.

The EliGuard technology will be highlighted at the Elfack electrical trade fair in Gothenburg (Sweden) May 9-12th. Questions related to this press release may be directed to Robert Magnusson. +46 506 199 03 or robert.magnusson@elicom.se
