EFC: A Captivating Quebec Economic Forecast

October 7, 2024

On September 19, nearly 50 members of the Quebec section of the Canadian Electro-federation had the opportunity to attend a highly strategic evening with none other than Valérie Beaudoin, Analyst and speaker specializing in American politics to talk about the issues that the upcoming US election decisions will have on the Canadian/Québec economy.

The location, the center of Montreal memories, was beautiful and welcoming. The event began with networking and bites distributed by funny butler penguins who made nothing but bird sounds. Members had access to drinks provided by the executive committee. At 6pm, Martin Piette, IPEX, President of the Executive Committee of Quebec, spoke to thank our sponsors and Marcos Simard, Wesco, President of the Young Professionals Committee, spoke to introduce Valerie Beaudoin on stage.

Valérie Beaudoin gave us a conference that exceeded our expectations. Our members were very interested and focused on her performance and her ease in popularizing the content of US policy that can be very difficult to follow. We know her for her interventions in various media including 98.5, RDI, Noovo and TVA. Valérie is an associate researcher at the highly acclaimed Raoul-Dandurand Chair’s Observatory on the United States. The annual economic conference of the EFC Québec has therefore taken a political turn with the upcoming American elections which are expected to be the most important for our members having business seats across the continent but also all the decisions that may take either of the jurisdictions that will be elected on November 5 and the impacts on our Canadian industry. It was also a great time to learn more about the intricacies of the U.S. electoral college, geopolitics and various economic, environmental and legal news items. Her conference generated great interest as several questions had to be asked after the question period due to lack of time.

Many thanks to Valérie Beaudoin, the members of the executive committee, the sponsors and the participant for this great evening of Economic Forecast of Quebec!

It was a beautiful evening of educational conference with a nice atmosphere and original servers in the new Montreal Museum of Memories (MEM), in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles.
