Tools in the Trades Boot Camp Wraps Up Another Successful Year: Over 1,000 Participants Took Their First Step Toward a Skilled Trades Career

Support Ontario Youth has announced the successful completion of another season of the Tools in the Trades Boot Camp. This season, 1,089 participants engaged in hands-on training, explored skilled trades career pathways and connected with industry professionals.

“Our mission has always been to provide a gateway into the skilled trades through hands-on learning and direct industry connections,” said Melanie Winter, Executive Director of Support Ontario Youth. “This year’s success demonstrates the ongoing need for accessible training opportunities and the impact they have on future apprentices.”

Tools in the Trades Boot Camp
  • 1,089 participants completed industry-led workshops to gain practical trade experience.
  • 71 participants have already secured employment, with more career opportunities in progress.
  • Top Attended Trades:
    • 313D Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic – 107% of target achieved.
    • 309A Electrician – Construction and Maintenance – 113% of target achieved.
  • Participant satisfaction: The program received a 94% overall satisfaction rating.
