City of Winnipeg Continues to Improve Online Permits System

July 4, 2025

The City of Winnipeg has launched an improved Permits Online web portal. This upgrade aims to make the permit process more convenient for customers.

Permits Online is a one-stop shop to manage the permit process. Now, the web portal is easier to use because customers can navigate it using their mobile device. The portal is also accessible and uses secure, cloud-based digital technology.

Registered users can:
  • Apply for development, building and trade permits
  • View the status of permits and applications
  • Submit documents
  • Make payments
  • Renew contractor licenses
  • Change passwords

“Now you can apply for permits and manage your projects on the go, even right from the job site,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “We’re modernizing services like Permits Online so it’s faster and easier for residents and builders to get projects moving and help Winnipeg grow.”

“Today’s improvements to Permits Online reflect our commitment to modernizing city services and making the permit process more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly for all Winnipeggers,” said Councillor Evan Duncan, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Property and Development.

“The redesign of Permits Online is reshaping how residents and developers interact with permit services,” said Hazel Borys, Director of the Planning, Property & Development Department. “We are offering a streamlined digital experience, using the convenience of your mobile device.”

Enhancing Permits Online is part of an ongoing process to expand digital services, which helps speed up the rate of development in Winnipeg.
