The agreement to add 17.25 MW of wind generating capacity at the Kent Hills site in New Brunswick will increase total wind generating capacity to 176 MW.

The Kent Hills wind farm already consists of two separate wind projects. The new project, known as Kent Hills 3, will see the installation of five new turbines and power the equivalent of 7,300 homes annually.

Kent Hills 3 is expected to begin operations in late 2018, subject to regulatory approvals and the completion of successful engagement with First Nations and other stakeholders.

The Kent Hills wind farm began commercial operations in December 2008. The addition of Kent Hills 3 has the potential to facilitate other business development opportunities in the green energy export sector, says NB Power
