Electro‐Federation Canada Collaborates with Mexico and the United States to Propose NAFTA Recommendations

EFC

November 24, 2017

Electro‐Federation Canada (EFC) and Cámara Nacional de Manufacturas Eléctricas (CANAME) of Mexico, have submitted joint recommendations to their respective governments to safeguard future trade in North America. The recommendations call on the strong need for governments to retain, modernize and improve the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in order to increase market access, reduce business costs and improve global competitiveness.

Together, EFC, NEMA and CANAME represent electrical companies that contribute close to $36 billion USD in NAFTA trade; employ over 530,000 people in more than 7,500 facilities across North America.

“The electrical footprint in North America is significant; the electrical products that our industry manufactures and sells, empower the modern world to thrive and have a lasting impact on the societies in which we live and prosper,” said Carol McGlogan, President & CEO, Electro‐Federation Canada. “The removal of tariff and non‐tariff barriers to trade will allow industries such as the electrical sector, to broaden North America’s scope and scale for global competitiveness.”

The full recommendations put forth by EFC, NEMA and CANAME can be found online.
