Corporate Knights Names Schneider Electric Canada’s Top International Corporate Citizen

July 18, 2022

Schneider Electric is Canada’s top international corporate citizen in 2022. This designation was awarded to Schneider Electric by Corporate Knights, a media and research company committed to advancing a sustainable economy.

Out of 177 large subsidiary companies operating in Canada, Schneider Electric ranked number one overall, according to Corporate Knights Sustainability Ratings, which are based on 24 key performance indicators covering environmental and social impacts.

“It’s always special to be recognized for great business results, but it is even more special when the recognition is for the progress in core values and sustainable business practices,” said Adrian Thomas, Country President, Canada, Schneider Electric. “This recognition from Corporate Knights provides a trusted seal of sustainability excellence and salutes the shifts we’re making in Canada to lead the sustainable economy.”

Schneider Electric was an early adopter of environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations and continues to ramp up its sustainability commitments. The latest acceleration of its sustainability strategy was announced in January 2022, affirming six long-term commitments and 11 concrete targets, deliverable by 2025.
Together, these targets aim to help Schneider Electric as well as partners, businesses and local communities, address climate change and social inclusion.

Corporate Knights has been steadily assessing Schneider Electric’s
actions and performance in environmental, social and governance. Schneider Electric has been featured on Corporate Knights’ Global 100 every year since 2012 – making it to the top spot in 2021 and placing fourth in 2022.

“Over the years, Schneider Electric has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by partnering with organizations across sectors to deliver solutions that help our economy run cleaner, better and faster, said Toby Heaps, CEO, Corporate Knights. “Through its strong commitments to sustainability and social inclusion, Schneider Electric is leading the way towards delivering tangible contributions to Canada’s sustainability journey.”
