Schneider Electric Announces Canadian Winners of Third Annual Sustainability Impact Awards

July 14, 2025

Schneider Electric has announced the Canadian winners of its third annual Sustainability Impact Awards, recognizing organizations that exemplify outstanding achievements in efficiency, innovation, and digitalization.

The winners of the 2024 Sustainability Impact Award represent excellence across key industry segments:

  • Complexe Desjardins has shown bold sustainability leadership in the commercial real estate sector achieving a 70% reduction in energy use and an 80% cut in emissions since 1976. Through real-time digital monitoring, the site continues to enhance efficiency and occupant comfort.
  • University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) is leading the way in campus sustainability within the higher education sector. With a bold commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2043 and becoming climate positive by 2050, UTM has already made measurable progress – cutting emissions, investing in renewable energy, and embracing smart building technologies.
  • Guillevin International is transforming the electrical distribution industry with impactful sustainability initiatives, including LED lighting retrofits, solar energy integration, EV fleet electrification, and digital tools that streamline operations and cut emissions.
  • Modular Green Technologies Inc. (MGTI) is advancing circular economy innovation in the industrial automation and waste processing sector. The company has developed modular pyrolysis systems that convert waste into reusable byproducts, while leveraging IoT solutions to optimize energy use and maximize efficiency.
  • TELUS is setting the standard for sustainable operations in the telecommunications and data centre sector. The company has reduced its environmental footprint through renewable energy adoption, advanced energy management, and infrastructure upgrades that support long-term resilience.

“In Canada, we’re seeing remarkable leadership from organizations that are embracing sustainability as a core business strategy,” said Emily Heitman, Country President, Schneider Electric Canada. “These award winners exemplify how innovation and digital transformation can drive measurable impact for their operations and the communities they serve. We are proud to support their efforts in building a more resilient and efficient future.”

Now in their third year, Schneider Electric’s Sustainability Impact Awards honour partners, customers, and suppliers for demonstrating measurable improvements through digitalization and innovation. Entries are judged on the extent to which they:

  1. Strategize: Establish a clear roadmap and robust governance model for sustainability.
  2. Digitize: Employ connected, data-driven solutions to monitor, manage, and optimize resource use.
  3. Decarbonize: Deliver verified energy savings, renewable energy adoption, or emissions reductions within the past 12 months.

This year’s Canadian honourees will receive continued support for their sustainability efforts, along with co-branded marketing materials and a commemorative trophy to celebrate their achievements.
