Based in Burnaby, B.C., RIC Electronics is a company founded in 1981 around power and backup systems. Since then, the company has expanded from three employees to over 50 and has grown into a 30,000 sq. ft. facility.
How do you estimate a project today? At its core, the function of estimating a construction project is much the same today as it has been throughout human history. Project costs and quantities must still be calculated just like they were when the great pyramids were built. What has changed dramatically is the time given towards creating an estimate.
Total investment in building construction decreased 2.0% from October to $13.7 billion in November. Both the residential (-2.2% to $9.4 billion) and non-residential (-1.6% to $4.3 billion) sectors declined.
Organizations funded under the Apprenticeship Service will distribute financial incentives to SMEs who hire apprentices, and provide additional supports, such as help navigating the apprenticeship system, onboarding apprentices, and creating welcoming workplaces. SMEs with 499 or fewer paid employees are eligible for the funding.
Over many years of experience in the electrical industry, I have learned that my colleagues are a “get it done” group of professionals. So, when it comes to the issues around the power quality of electricity coming into buildings from today’s challenged grid, I know there is frustration with the lack of effective options.
