BC Hydro: Business Energy Saving Incentives

October 7, 2024

Get funding for energy-efficient equipment upgrades

By focusing on what uses the most energy in your business, you can make energy-efficient upgrades for the greatest impact on savings.

The offer

Business customers can upgrade any of the equipment listed below with eligible, energy-efficient models and BC Hydro will provide funding to cover up to 25% of the upfront costs.

Incentives are available for:
  • Lighting
  • Add-on upgrades for refrigeration
  • Add-on upgrades for mechanical technologies such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)

Program benefits

Not only do these incentives shorten the payback period of your upfront investment, they make the decision to upgrade easy. Our incentives could help you save over an average of $2,400 per year on your bill depending on your energy usage and efficiency upgrades.

Take advantage of the incentives to reduce your business’ energy consumption, save on energy costs, and increase your bottom line.

How it works

If you’re interested in upgrading the lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration or mechanical technologies for your business it’s time to connect with a contractor. You can request a referral for a member of the Alliance of Energy Professionals, which is a network of energy efficiency trade professionals registered with BC Hydro.

Contractors will need to make sure that they’re a registered Alliance member to qualify for the incentives.

Contractor membership

Be part of the Alliance of Energy Professionals

Alliance members are recognized experts in energy solutions, and they’re knowledgeable about BC Hydro’s programs and incentives.

If you work in commercial and industrial settings, you can become an Alliance member to help your customers apply for incentives. In addition, members can get business customer referrals from BC Hydro.

Contractors working on commercial and small industrial projects can participate in the Alliance in one of two ways: by becoming full members or by seeking one-time project approval.

An Alliance member:
  • Looks for other BC Hydro incentive opportunities.
  • Helps with your application.
  • Identifies more opportunities to save energy.
  • Selects and installs energy-efficient products.
