NEW Report: Supporting Retention for Indigenous Peoples in the Skilled Trades
August 1, 2024
This report introduces an inclusion framework designed to support and retain Indigenous Peoples, including Métis citizens, Inuit, and First Nations people, in the trades. The framework is grounded in the lived experiences of Indigenous peoples and aims to:
- Embrace both individual and community wellbeing;
- Promote pre-apprenticeship skills that enhance employment opportunities for individuals while benefiting families and communities;
- Foster a community of support involving Indigenous Elders and community leaders, along with employers, trade unions, and colleges.
This comprehensive approach is key to achieving success and empowerment for Indigenous Peoples in the trades.
