Current LED HID Replacement Lamps

August 29, 2025

Starting in 2029, installing HID lamps will no longer be allowed. This regulatory transition is fast approaching — yet many buildings still rely on these outdated, energy-hungry technologies.

Current’s LED HID Standard and Selectable Replacement Lamps are designed to provide high output from a compact size. The length and diameter match HID ANSI profiles. These lamps feature omnidirectional light output, with similar distribution to traditional HID lamps. This enables GE LED lamps to fit in a variety of fixtures while providing equivalent light levels to HID, making it possible to upgrade more applications to LED without replacing an entire fixture. All of the GE LED lamps in this category are Type B, which means the fixture is re-wired to bypass the ballast. The lamp drawings below illustrate how similar in size Current’s LED lamps are to traditional HID bulbs.

HID Replacement

Current’s LED replacement for HID lamps leverage the low energy and long life of LED. The existing fixture is wired to bypass the ballast, which reduces energy use and eliminates the need to check ballast compatibility. Maintenance savings are realized by removing costs associated with replacing ballasts.

Features & Benefits
  • Direct wire to bypass the ballast-reduces energy use and eliminates ballast compatibility
  • Match ANSI standard shape
  • One lamps for multiple applications
