APPrO Seeks Nominations for the 2015 Hedley Palmer Award

Appro Awards

The Hedley Palmer Award honours an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the Ontario power industry. APPrO is asking for preliminary indications of interest by noon on September 4, and final submissions by September 9.

According to APPrO, the Hedley Palmer Award is the highest honour bestowed annually in the power generation business in Canada.APPrO is a non-profit organization representing more than 100 companies involved in the generation of electricity in Ontario, including generators and suppliers of services, equipment and consulting services. APPrO members produce power from co-generation, hydroelectric, gas, coal, nuclear, wind energy, waste wood and other sources. APPrO’s members currently produce over 98% of the electricity made in Ontario.

Hedley Palmer was a director of marketing at Ontario Hydro, among other positions he held at Ontario Hydro before that. His work came to APPrO’s attention in the 1980s when he took a number of steps internally and externally that helped prepare Ontario Hydro to deal with other power suppliers besides itself, and which eventually led to the NUG program and RFP in 1988.
