Schneider Electric Appoints Hugo Lafontaine to Lead its Industry Business in Canada

Schneider Electric announces the appointment of Hugo Lafontaine to the position of Vice President, Industry, Canada. Hugo will lead the company’s automation business in Canada, bringing smart, connected and sustainable digital technology and next-generation solutions to guide the advancement of industries of the future.

“Industry 4.0 is an important driver for innovation and economic growth in Canada, and I’m excited to lead our customers’ Industry 4.0 journey by bringing digital and energy-efficient solutions for their factory floor,” said Hugo Lafontaine, Vice President, Industry, Canada. “There is tremendous opportunity in decarbonizing the Industry sector to support Canada’s energy transition—while also helping customers yield higher efficiencies by connecting their plant, site, facility and people so they can perform predictive analytics and maintenance, and gain real-time data insights to make more informed business decisions.”

Hugo most recently served as Vice President, Digital Energy & Power Products at Schneider Electric, where he was responsible for the company’s smart building and digital power business. Hugo has over 20 years of systems and automation experience and is passionate about optimizing digital platforms and solutions to drive innovation. He currently serves on the board of the Building Energy Innovators Council (BEIC) and is an executive member of the Canadian Standard Association’s Intelligent Building Systems committee. Hugo is also affiliated with Professional Engineers of Ontario and previously served as a board member for the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA).
