Electrical Contractors’ Salaries by Employer

A new white paper published by Mohawk College’s Energy and Power Innovation Centre explains how Mohawk’s Joyce Centre for Partnership and Innovation incorporated sustainable building concepts and technologies to design Canada’s largest net-zero and zero carbon institutional facility.
My blog post from April 1, 2020, entitled Lessons Learned from Living Lab describes a research project about retrofitting existing spaces with networked lighting control systems (NLCs). It contains recommendations on how to avoid typical of problems that may be encountered on an NLC install. This post will elaborate on some of those “lessons” and recommendations.
Minister of Natural Resources Jim Carr recently presented awards to electrical industry organizations and others from across Canada for their achievements in partnering with Canada’s Energy Star program to develop and promote the most energy-efficient products and homes. See who won, and why.
A licensed electrical contractor in Niagara Falls, Ontario, was fined $537,500 on March 30 — the largest fine in the history of electrical contractor licensing in Ontario.
In April 2014, an elderly gentleman who fell to the floor in his bathroom suffered second and third degree burns from the over-heated floor. He succumbed to his injuries weeks later. An Electrical Safety Authority (investigation revealed the floor system’s heat sensor had not been installed, and the heating system was wired to an incorrect voltage level.
Rule 72-000 notes that this is a supplementary or amendatory section of the code and applies to the services and distribution facilities for mobile homes and recreational vehicle parks.
