Schneider Electric Canada Receives Innovative Excellence Award at VIATEC

Viatec Tech Awards

Schneider Electric’s Victoria, BC team has received a “Freddy” award for Innovative Excellence at this year’s VIATEC Technology Awards Show in Victoria, B.C. The award recognises local companies that have researched and designed an innovative service, process or product that is expected to revolutionize a sector, method of business or way of life.

Schneider Electric received the award for the PowerLogic PM8000, its new series of digital power quality meters. Designed and manufactured in Schneider Electric’s Power and Energy Measurement and Monitoring Global R&D Centre in Victoria, PM8000 series meters are compact, cost-effective multifunction power meters that help businesses ensure the reliability and efficiency of their power-critical facility.

“Schneider Electric plays a big role in our local tech community and has done so for many years,” says Dan Gunn, CEO of VIATEC. “VIATEC is pleased that the judging panel recognized the innovative approach that Schneider Electric took in developing the PM8000 project. Schneider Electric has been one of our leading innovators for years and in many ways this is overdue.”

Schneider Electric opened the Power and Energy Measurement and Monitoring Global R&D Centre in Victoria in 1983, where it has designed and manufactured many global energy metering and management products. Combining design and manufacturing in one facility shortens Schneider Electric’s time to market, optimising the project design life cycle and encouraging innovation.
