Electric Avenue Powers Ahead with Major Win and New Flagship Product: Watti Pro Echo

June 9, 2025

In an industry dominated by global giants, a startup from Canada’s East Coast is quickly becoming one of the most compelling cleantech success stories in the country.

Electric Avenue, a Nova Scotia–based EV charging manufacturer, is making waves in the North American market with the official launch of its Watti Pro Echo — a sleek, dual-connector commercial charger built for public, commercial, and fleet deployments.

But this announcement is more than just a product launch — it’s the next chapter in a much bigger story.

From Local Startup to National Scale

Founded just a few years ago in Halifax, Electric Avenue has rapidly built a reputation for delivering thoughtful, practical charging solutions — and for punching well above its weight.

That reputation recently helped secure a major national win: a 600-station deployment with real estate developer Polycorp, one of the largest privately held green builders in Canada. The project, partially funded through Natural Resources Canada’s ZEVIP program, is now in full swing — with Electric Avenue not only supplying hardware and software, but also supporting the installation rollout and having helped shape the successful ZEVIP application from day one.

“It’s one thing to sell a charger. It’s another to help a customer unlock national funding, deploy at scale, and keep everything moving smoothly post-sale,” says Mark MacDonald, President of Electric Avenue. “That’s the kind of partnership we’re proud to offer.”

Introducing the Watti Pro Echo: Built to Stand Out

Now, the company is unveiling the latest addition to its product lineup — the Watti Pro Echo, a dual- connector, dual-48A Level 2 charging station with interactive touchscreen, OCPP 2.0.1 upgradeability, and networking via WiFi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, or 4G. With support for J1772, J3400 (NACS), or combo connectors, it offers unmatched flexibility for public sites, fleet operators, and multi-tenant locations.

Key highlights for commercial deployment:

• 11.5kW per port (23kW total) – True dual output with no power split

• Configurable amperage (8A–48A per connector) – Adapt to existing panel capacity without upgrades

• Offline Load Sharing (up to 5 units) – Smart power distribution with no network or CMS required

• Offline RFID Access Control – Ideal for gated or underground garages

• Multiple connector options (J1772, J3400/NACS, or combo) – Future-proof for evolving vehicle standards

• OCPP 1.6J & 2.0.1-ready + ISO 15118 – Seamless CMS integration with OpenADR-certified software

• WiFi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and optional 4G – Built-in redundancy for connectivity in any location

• Optional integrated tap-to-pay terminal – Enable monetization with credit cards or mobile wallets

The Watti Pro Echo is engineered to perform reliably in harsh climates, and simplify both initial deployment and long-term maintenance— making it an ideal choice for Canadian EV infrastructure.

Built for Canada – and What Comes Next for Electric Avenue

As the race to build EV-ready infrastructure accelerates across North America, Electric Avenue is carving out a niche as a North American player that understands the full lifecycle of charging deployments — from equipment and software to funding, installation, and long-term support.

Proudly Canadian-owned and operated, the company is committed to strengthening Canada’s cleantech sector — and sees domestic manufacturing as the next step in that journey.

“Our ultimate goal is to bring manufacturing to Canada,” says MacDonald. “We’re not there yet, but every charger sold today brings us closer. We believe EV infrastructure should be built by Canadians, for Canadians — and that means investing in jobs, innovation, and economic growth here at home.”

And the growth doesn’t stop at the border. Over the past year, Electric Avenue has successfully expanded into the U.S. market, securing pilot deployments and establishing new distributor relationships in key states. This cross-border traction marks a major milestone in the company’s journey from Canadian startup to North American cleantech leader.

With major deployments already underway and more planned in remote, underserved, and high-density urban locations across Canada and the U.S., Electric Avenue is proving that world-class EV infrastructure can be built by a homegrown team — and scaled coast to coast with real staying power.
