ABB ST200M Miniature Circuit Breakers: New Generation of UL 1077- Compliant Supplementary Protection

ABB ST200M 400

Mar 7, 2019

ABB System pro M compact miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) now offer ST200M MCBs for supplementary protection up to 480Y/277VAC and 125VDC in accordance with UL® 1077 Standard for Supplementary Protectors for Use in Electrical Equipment.

The UL 1077 standard defines supplementary protectors as devices intended for use as overcurrent, over voltage or under-voltage protection within electrical equipment where branch-circuit protection is already provided or is not required. UL 1077 supplementary protectors are defined separately from circuit breakers, which are governed under the UL 489 standard.

ABB ST200M MCBs also comply with similar standards, CSA 22.2 No. 235 and IEC/EN 60947-2, certified for AC and DC use.

“ST200M MCBs offer a broad range of product types and accessories, all of which comply with the international standards UL, CSA and IEC,” said Thomas Weinmann, local product marketing manager for MCBs at ABB.

“This makes ST200M MCBs ideal for numerous applications and markets. They are also fully compatible with ABB System pro M compact accessories.”

High-performance MCBs with interrupt ratings up to 10kA, ST200M MCBs offer a high-calibration temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius) for reduced derating in ICP applications. The short-circuit current classification (SC) of U2 enables continuous high-level short-circuit protection.

Other features include laser-printed product information on the device, clearly visible red/green contact position indication (CPI) and thermoplastic housing for better external protection. ST200M MCBs also feature patented twin terminals for wiring up to AWG 4 with captive screws. The terminals are approved for field wiring.
